So, you’ve been given the role of organising the stag do and, let’s face it, you have a lot of planning to do. But don’t despair because we have put together a list of top things to do during your stag weekend in Cardiff. Here, you can combine the natural wonders of the Brecon Beacons or the Gower peninsula with the sociable bars and nightlife, easily showing why Cardiff has been voted one of the best cities in the UK to have your stag-do.
Cardiff is a city filled to the brim with activities, live music and sporting events – most of which are within walking distance or at the very most a small taxi ride away. You can have the bustling vibe of a major city but with the unique twist of being open to a handful of natural activities and days-outs. To help narrow down your stag weekend plans we have put together a list of our top things to do when celebrating in the Welsh capital.

BARS:
Zero Degrees Microbrewery – A great way to start off your night out with freshly brewed beer. This microbrewery offers an assortment of unique speciality beers including unusual flavours like grapefruit, and a variety of locally sourced and globally styled beers.
10 Feet Tall – After something more unusual? Offering a range of elaborate cocktails and a cool vibe, 10 feet tall is often a great place to listen to some live music or dance to the bars DJ. Here you can grab two for one cocktails and great food.
Porter’s Cardiff– For a true Cardiff feel, Porters has an extremely happy atmosphere and is a great place for live music, as this bar has won many awards for its variety of live entertainment, and is often described as the hidden gem of Cardiff.
Revolucion de Cuba– For more of a nightclub atmosphere head to the roaring Revolucion de Cuba, here you can experience the vibe of Havana without having to leave Wales. Just remember to pack your dancing shoes!
Live Lounge– It’s getting towards the end of your night but no one is ready to go home just yet, head to Live Lounge for free entry and constant retro classics on repeat at one of Cardiff’s cheapest nightclubs.
However, Cardiff isn’t only about beers and great music! There are also so many adrenaline pumping activities on offer. Here are our top activity recommendations for your stag weekend:
The White Water Rafting centre in the heart of Cardiff, where you can spend the afternoon doing either indoor surfing or you can take on the famous white water rafting area. Guaranteed to be a great laugh to begin your weekend.
Tackle the Gower peninsula, by going on a bus or car ride you and your team could experience the wonder of the Gower Peninsula. Here, you can scramble your way along the coastline, with the added bonus of getting to jump off a cliff with your stag before his big day!
Be in awe at the Brecon Beacons, The perfect time to push your boundaries as friends, as you walk through waterfalls and slide with the rapids as you go canyoning throughout one of the most breathtaking national parks in Wales.
Paddle Boarding, here you can explore Cardiff Bay from a different angle away from the busy streets and restaurants as you paddle your way along the bay and Penarth. It’s also a great way to help your core before a night out on the town!
Here’s our most popular stag weekend in Cardiff:
The plan would be for yourself and your team to arrive in the capital city on Friday afternoon to one of our top accommodations. Typically if your group is made up of 15 or less then you can stay at the Cardiff City Centre Hostel, which comes equipped with a craft beer bar, pool table and a great view of the river Taff and the Millenium stadium. This hostel does offer private bedrooms with ensuites. A continental breakfast is provided and there is also car parking outside the hostel!
Our other choice of accommodation, The Cardiff Bay Villa, is perfect for groups made up of 15-20 party members. This quirky villa is split into three floors with a variety of unusually decorated bedrooms to choose from as well as a communal area and large kitchen space. The villa is also equipped with a games room to keep the entertainment flowing. Located in Cardiff Bay you will be surrounded by a wide choice of bars and restaurants. But, dont worry its only a five minute taxi drive to the city centre (or a 20 minute walk) so you can have a choice of where you spend your evenings.
However, it does not matter if you are a large group and want to stay in the hostel as this can also be arranged!
Here’s our suggested Itinerary to keep the stag weekend busy:
- Head to Cardiff from your home location and all meet at the Cardiff white water center, for an afternoon of rafting.
- Check-in at your chosen accommodation, drinks package will be provided at the Cardiff Bay villa, and at the City Center Hostel there will be pizza and beers on arrival.
- Head to one of our recommended bars to get a vibe for the Welsh capital.
- Saturday morning at 8:30am, you and your team will be picked up by one of our private transfers to be taken to either Rhossili Bay for a full day of coasteering or, to the Brecon Beacons for a canyoning adventure. Canyoning will take between three to four hours, including putting on kit.
- After an afternoon of adrenaline we will head to a local pub for some much deserved food and drink.
- In time for the evening, we will head back to Cardiff for a night out at the rest of our recommended bars!
- Sunday morning check out.
Prices will vary from £200+ per person for the hostel package, and £250+ for the Cardiff Bay Villa package. However, if you are on a budget then you can miss out one of the activities to suit your cost
