Learn to Surf Gower, Wales

By Amy Picton – Hi BBA readers! My name is Amy, a blogger and traveller from Cardiff. If you are an adventurer or if you’ve never put on a wetsuit, you will love what Big Blue has to offer. I recently tried out the surf adventure day with the team in the Gower and I’m hooked!

Learn to Surf Gower, WalesMy friends say I have a case of the travel bug, I travel  as much as I can, reviewing anything worth checking out. Trip Advisor is a bible for finding out what others
honestly think of their travel experiences before parting with your money. You will be pleased to know Big Blue Adventures has nothing but positive reviews, and after trying out the adventure day I can confidently say you will have an awesome experience.

Here are my top 5 reasons to consider booking an adventure with BBA.

1. TRY SOMETHING DIFFERENT
Try out one of the exciting water sports activities on offer, all are accessible for
complete beginners. Not a water baby? That’s cool you can get stuck in to Quad
Biking, Hiking, or Beach Yoga. Trying something different can help you step out of
your comfort zone, it was pretty awesome to see one adventurer who was super
nervous about going in the water at the start of the day, standing up on the surf board
by the end like a pro!

2. EXPLORE BEAUTIFUL LOCATIONS
Rhossili Bay earned a place in the 2017 Suitcase’s top 10 beaches in the world list.
Maybe it is the patriotic welsh girl in me, but with competition like Hawaii I think
that is one to boast to my English friends about. If you fancy venturing further, how
about Paddle Boarding in Amsterdam? Or a Surf Adventure in Scheveningen, only
one hour from Amsterdam where you can soak up the culture, explore the pier and a
colourful lighthouse. I will admit when I went to Holland I had no idea that the
country had such great water sports opportunities. If you like chasing the sun, have a
look at Algarve where you can pack in all the activities and take advantage of
everything Portugal has to offer. The breath-taking cliffs, endless beaches, sunset
hikes, great food and local wine. Or do it all and combine a beach break with
sightseeing by Tuk Tuk in the vibrant city of Lisbon. With so many beautiful
locations rich in culture to choose from, you will feel spoilt for choice.

3. MAKE A NIGHT OF IT – ACCOMMODATION OPTIONS
If you fancy making a night of it there is no need to stress about booking accommodation separately. BBA have some awesome accommodation options in all
of the locations across Europe. If you fancy being in the centre of it all or a relaxing get away, there are plenty of options from city apartments to bell tent camping with each trip tailor made. For trips abroad airport transfers are included, saving you money for sightseeing. I saw how having the accommodation and activity booked together made life easier and created a personal experience for the adventurers. It is handy to have the team there to get you ready for the day and the bus waiting outside the accommodation to take you on your adventure.

4. LEARN NEW SKILLS IN THE HANDS OF EXPERIENCED INSTRUCTORS.
All of the activities are tried and tested, you will be in the safe hands of qualified and
experienced instructors that are first aid trained. You will be provided with all the
safety gear, wetsuits and equipment. It is easy to be put off by photos of people
plummeting from huge cliffs in to the sea, but you don’t have to be an adrenaline
junky daredevil to take part. I am not the biggest fan of heights but it’s all about
trusting the instructors and confidence will follow, knowing you will never be
pressured to do anything you aren’t comfortable with.

5. AND MOST IMPORTANTLY – HAVE FUN!
Whatever your group, from families to work colleagues, adventures are for everyone.
Outdoor activities encourage bonding, and a proper detox from the screens we are all
glued too. They reduce stress, and for those hen and stags who like a drink it is the
best cure for sore heads, but most importantly they are about having fun. Creating the
best memories, surfing, scrambling over rocks, exploring caves, paddling, and
soaking up the sun.
