Georgetown

Georgetown in the Exumas. This huge natural harbour between two islands is the meeting point for 300-400 boats who cruise the Bahamas. Each year they hold a regatta with stage shows and events open for all to take part in the fun.

Georgetown is also known as Chicken harbour as it is the end of the journey for many people. Some just stay here but many turn back and head back to the USA. Others like us keep heading south

A storm blows in, when this happens everyone sits tight on their boats and watches their GPS position. When the wind blows much harder than normal and changes direction rapidly it is possible of the anchor to drag. With this many boats so closely anchored fast action is need to reset it.
