2005 Hurricane season

The 2005 hurricane season was predicated to be a busy one, no one thought it would be the busiest year since records began.

The area in the middle of the chart shows several islands that were lucky enough to not have been hit so far this year. The biggest of those island is Puerto Rico which is where we will be Nov 05 - Jan 06. This year was their lucky year as they reside in an area known locally as Hurricane Alley.

As you can see from the table below the storm names run in alphabetic order, the names rotate in a 10 year cycle. So they already know what the names of next years storms will be.

This year there were so many storms that they ran out of names, when this happens they use the Greek alphabet.

As you can see if you look at the dates when the storms were active, there were times with active Hurricanes at the same time. It is possible for two active hurricanes to collide to form 1 much bigger Hurricane.
